Chart size will not change for export to image

I opened a spreadsheet I saved in version 5.2.7 , selected a chart, and find when exporting to image png, the size and dpi/ppi are different. So I attempt to increase the width and height by choosing Position and Size, (the Protect Size box is Not checked) but the next export is the same width x height and only the fonts have changed, now they are tiny.

Am I missing a new option somewhere to lock the size, or is the ods file broken/stuck?
Checked several ods files with charts, all have the same problem except one. Chart size is stuck and won’t change.
Running LibreOffice-7.3.1-x86_64.AppImage on Debian. Also same in 7.2.5
Thank you

When the PNG Options dialogue box appears:

  1. Make a note of one of the dimensions, for example the Width is 16.01 cm
  2. Alter the resolution to suit your intended export, e.g. 150 dpi
  3. Set the Width back to 16.01 (it will have reduced to reflect the increase in resolution, to 10.21 in image below)
  4. Click OK

That dialog box never appears for me. Please confirm this is right after right clicking on the chart, then right clicking “Export as Image”?
or after selecting the filename?

Mark your chart, so you have a gray frame.

Choose File>Export from the menu.

Choose a file name, file type = PNG and Selection.

Click on Save.

The dialog “PNG Options” for size and resolution appears.

Click OK.

You now have a result:

If this is not the case for you, you should reset the user profile.

Load ods file. Left click on chart.

I don’t see the grey box, I see 8 yellow handles, but the chart is selected.
File, Export
screenshot#2
type in filename or select test-7.3-fe.png
Next dialog is
(same path)/LibO731-export-20221019-113249.png
I change the width to 1024, and save it to the above link.

This is a different result than right clicking on the chart to choose Export Image.
What did I miss?

[sorry new users can only embed one image, sorry new users can only put 2 links in a post. Hey Openoffice, what year did I first start contributing? 2007]

  1. You didn’t tick selection in the Save As dialogue
  2. Note the width, change the resolution, reset the width

[EDIT]
If you are happy working in pixels as opposed to cm (inch) and pixels/cm (DPI) then setting only a pixel size will work instead. I prefer the computer to do the calculations for me.
