Is it possible to pipe the output of convert-to to the screen/terminal & not to a file?.
soffice --covert-to csv f.ods
creates a file f.csv.

No. There is a --cat command line parameter, which allows to use plain text export filter to output contents of a text document to stdout, but the example in the question implies that spreadsheet documents are meant, so the parameter is not applicable (and indeed, it is not applicable to Base component, which is for databases, and likely used wrongly as the question’s tag).
Thanks, I’m indeed referring to a spreadsheet (.ods) file. I’ve tried the --cat option before posting here & it doesn’t work.
