I only see a way of copying all styles across. How do I get one across please?
Thanks.

Open both files.
There is just the resriction that the target file must not have a style with the same name. Otherwise the settings for the style of the imported text are ignored.
Thanks. It would be nice to be given the option to overwrite the target style (with an undo). I guess if the target file is not the/a template then that could be problematic though.
This is not a solution for the initial question. Please use the more link in this “non-answer” to repost as a comment. This site is a Question & Answer one, not a forum. Adding an “answer” seriously diminishes the probability to get a solution as contributors see the question as answerd.
Solved. You have a collection of important docs. Create a rubbish doc called Style-X, Style-Y, etc., for each set of styles you will be using. Let’s assume these style sets are different overall, but you want one style, say Mystyle, to be the same in both. Suppose you have made it correct in Style-X and want just that style transferred accurately to Style-Y. Delete Mystyle from Style-Y, then in the load styles menu for Style-Y, UNcheck Overwrite (V. IMP!!) and load the styles from Style-X.
Because these Style-whatever docs are rubbish, you don’t care if this messes anything up in the text, but the Styles will be correct. Now you can load either set of styles into your important docs. I use this to get different formatting for different paper sizes, for example.
