COUNTA returning wrong value

I am using COUNTA to compare the number of entries and the number of meals. In the NON GOLF GUEST NAME-1, it is returning 12 and should be 11. Could someone tell me what is being counted and how to fix it? I did use the column to add a note that wasn’t associated with a meal, so the number of meals is correct at 10.

Thanks for any help.

I had forgotten how to edit the question and added a comment with the file as well. Sorry for the confustion.

I forgot to attach the spreadsheet.

there is some <space> in O2:O73

You have probably entered a blank in cell O15 (Tab: “FULL DATA BASE”).
And I guess that cell O45 is a comment and should not be counted?

I’m not sure if this is the correct way to ask, but how do I “see” the blank and how do I get rid of it? I am going to move the comment to the bottom and just put an * after the name to remove it from the count.

Thanks for the quick response.

Simply select the empty cells ( O2:O73 ) and press the Delete key.

Another question: On this same spreadsheet, I need to count how many of each size vest. Is there some way to show the size and number without doing a separate COUNTIF (I guess I’m asking to display the vest size and then the count for each different size)?

Appreciate all your help.

Thank you. I had forgotten how to use a pivot table and this really helped. I’d also like to thank both you and Hrbrgr for your help with my problems. I’m not sure if I got this marked as solved. If not, please do so.
