Crash even in safemode; writer, calc,

Presets:

  • kernel 6.3.3-artix1-1
  • DWM as window manager
  • zsh

Lowriter started from the terminal crashes, then the recovery option is provided (libreoffice-still 7.4.7-1 results in crash with recovery option). If recovery is requested, the crash repeats. There is only an error code when the program is exited

opening basically everything from the dropdown menu after starting libreoffice from the terminal results in this:

“terminate called after throwing an instance of ‘com::sun::star::uno::RuntimeException’

My solution approaches:

  • set java to false in $HOME/.config/[shortened]javasettings_Linux_X86_64.xml
  • rename/delete user configurations
  • reinstall
  • try the -fresh version
  • start in safemode:
  • starting with other vcl “SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kde4/gtk/gen lowriter”
  • second laptop with similar setup produces the same problem

Thank you in advance

downgrade via the downgrade packgae to 7.3.7.2 fixed the problem for now.

Your LibreOffice is from Artix / AUR or downloaded from TDF?
.
You may consider to do a bug-report at bugzilla for LibreOffice.
.
On your try to solve the problem:

Usually not necessary as most of LO is not using Java. Most will notice a missing Java only when using the Java-based HSQL-database.

3 year old problems with slackware based distro is unlikely to be related with your Artix<Arch<Debian problem, especially, as Arch is known to be “bleeding edge”.

Thank you for Your reply.

  1. Yes, libreoffice has been downloaded from the artix extra repository. (trusted data format i presume). I will report my case.
  2. I did just grasp for straws here. Thank you though.
  3. same as in 2)
