crash upon repairing file

We had a brown-out last week while I was copying and pasting in Calc. Now when I try to open a Calc document LibreOffice lets me know there’s a file to repair and when I proceed says it’s been successfully repaired, but when clicking FINISH it gives me a window saying LibreOffice crashed and that the file I’m working on will be saved… blah blah… Then LibreOffice will not respond to opening, either via desktop shortcut nor from the file menu, nor via clicking on any document file or spreadsheet file in My Computer.

I have LibreOffice operating on a second networked laptop but can’t afford to duplicate the trouble there just to test theories.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled LibreOffice and still get the same results.

I expect that there is a corruption in file-save-repair instructions created during our power failure that is stored someplace so that re-installing does not affect it.

Please tell me what I file I might search for that is causing the problem.

Try resetting the user profile?, reinstall does not delete the old one. wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile

This is not an answer to your problem but may help you in the future: I save files on which I work every day with a new date in the file name just after opening the file. By doing so I will loose a maximum of a day’s work. For very important files I do it several times a day with date+time information. I typically keep 2 - 3 copies of older files for safety reason, the other I delete.
