Create template with text word "COPY'

LibreOffice 7.2.2.2
Ventura 13.6.1 on an iMac

I would like to create a template named, say, Copy, that has the word COPY permanently on it and which I can later open at File>New>Templates>Copy and write onto it (or paste onto it) the text of a letter sent to someone else

… so that a cc: recipient of a letter can receive a copy of a letter the original of which is sent to another.

That is, the cc: copy is printed onto a page that clearly says COPY below the text.

I am able to create the template itself, but how do I instruct LibreOffice to allow me to type (or paste) text on the COPY page that appears above or over the word COPY?

I think that opening the template at File>New>Templates>Copy may be my mistake. To me, that “sounds” like I am creating a new template when in fact I want to open an existing template and type onto it (or paste onto it) text. But if so, I can’t figure out how to do that.

Thank you.

Basically, you want to make clear the document is not originating from you but you forward it from some external source.

I don’t think a template is the solution. Rather, my workflow would be:

  1. make a copy of the original document
  2. open the copy and modify it as follows
  3. see how many page styles are used and for each:
    1. check if header or footer is enabled (one of them is enough); if none, enable header
Take care that this may change the layout of the document; so be cautious and eventually make corrections
    2. add a watermark attached to the header (or footer if this one is present but no header)
See below on how to do it
  4. save the copy
  5. send the copy

Rather than using Format>Watermark which may disturb the layout, create an AutoText to insert either a frame or a labelled shape (the latter can be rotated). But doing so manually, you control all parameters (position, size, font face, colour, orientation, …), notably you can make sure that the anchor is at minimal 2pt size and will disturb the least existing layout and format.

I remind you that anchoring in the header (or footer) does not prevent you from positioning the “object” anywhere in the page.

An AutoText is saved in your user profile. It is then available for all documents.
