Creating a HANDOUT without borders and save it as a PDF

Hello,

I’m new to Libre Office and I have to say I’m not really used to work with any office suite at all.

I’ve got serval powerpoint presentations (.pptx files) which I need to print out. I want to use as less paper as possible but have the slides in a large enough format.

So what I want to do is put 4 slides on 1 page in landscape without any boders around them and save them as PDF files, is that possible and how would I do that any help is very much appreciated.

I think there is no direct way in pure LO to achieve this.

This is what I’d do:

1. Export your presentation as PDF - one page per slide ( File > export as PDF )
2. Achieve the 4-slides-on-1-page using the interface of your printer ( open PDF > File > Print… > Properties > 4-on-1 ), also chose the format ‘landscape’ in the properties-dialog.

Of course you can do (2) directly from LO - if you don’t need the PDF…

This method worked for me with LO 3.5 in Linux Mint 13. I am not sure about the Windows version. If you have Windows you can try it and report back the results.
The steps are as follows:

1. Go to File > Printer Settings…

2. From the list, select “Generic Printer”

3. Click on “Properties…”

4. On the “Paper” tab choose the paper size and orientation (Landscape).

5. On the “Device” tab select the Printer Language type (PDF).

6. Now go to File > Print…

7. On the “Page Layout” tab select the Pages per sheet (4) and the Order in which they are printed. Optionally, you can tick the “Draw a border around each page” check box.

8. On the “Options” tab mark the Print to file checkbox.

9. Press the “Print to File…” button.

10. In the “Save” dialog that will pop up, write a name for the PDF file and select a folder to store it.
