Creating a new text document brings up an old letter

LibreOffice 7.4.6.2 on Mac 13.2.1

A while ago I wrote a letter on LibreOffice, then printed and snail-mailed it.
Now there does not seem to be a way to delete that letter. Any time I start a NEW>TEXT, I get that letter back. I’ve deleted every copy of Untitled 1.odt the search function has found.

How do I make LibreOffice give me a blank sheet when I start a new text?

Tutorial Creating a new default template.

You may have inadvertently created a template.

A template file has extension .ott and contains both styles (formatting directives referenced by name) and initial contents. If additionally, this template has been marked as default template, it is activated whenever you File>New>Text Document.

You can restore your configuration with File>Templates>Manage Templates. Eventually select Text Documents from the Filter menu to reduce the list. Right-click on the template you want and Set as Default.

To remove an offending template from the list, click it and press Del. After confirmation, it will be removed from the list and erased from the disk.

To just remove the default template setting from the letter and restore it to LibreOffice blank template from Manage Templates, find the template with the green tick, right click it and click Reset Default.
