Creating Data Base Cannot Connect, Report/sheet/data missing

I’m using Windows 11, LO 24.2.4.2
I have created data bases before but today when I try to create a data base I get a message, Connection to database cannot be established.
I’ve tried several times.
I’m creating the data base from my spreadsheet.
Trying to make a dataa base to print labels with different information on each label.
I do this also at Christmas sometimes to make address labels for Christmas cards.
I’ve done this before, so I know the procedure. What is my problem?
Thank you.

Please describe step by step what you are doing.
You start the wizard “Base Database” from LO desktop. Wizard will show the steps.

I start by making a spreadsheet in LO
Then I click on new database. The data base wizard comes up.
I select connect to existing database and select spreadsheet.
Click next
Browse to my spreadsheet location and click on the speadsheet.
Click on open and next.
Click on Yes register this data base for me
and on open data base for editing.
Then I click Finish.
Save as ODF database.
It is supposed to have sheet, contacts or something under tables.
I have nothing in that block.
Does this help?

Call menu:Edit>Database>Properties… and check if you really picked the right spreadsheet. Open the spreadsheet.
If you have an existing database document that always worked for you, the same dialog lets you exchange the spreadsheet. The registration and your form letters remain the same.

I had the right spreadsheet. I’ve tried several times renaming the spreadsheet and it still didn’t work.
I tried your suggestion oof selecting a database that has worked in the past and opened it but the Queries box is still empty.

I tried renaming the spreadsheet to something different and making a new database.
I got this message: “LibreOffice requires a 64-bit Java runtime environment (JRE) to perform this task. Please install a JRE and restart LibreOffice. Frequently asked questions - General - The Document Foundation Wiki
Hadn’t gotten that before.
then it came up with, The connection to the data source “ANTBM-IBMA” could not be established. at C:/cygwin64/home/buildslave/source/libo-core/dbaccess/source/ui/misc/datasourceconnector.cxx:177
This is a message I have been getting the last couple of days as I’m trying to print my labels.

A few years back I couldn’t get LO to make labels and so I used Open Office to make my labels. So I tried Open Office today and it didn’t work either. I don’t understand LO isn’t working. The procedure is relatively simple and the computer does most of the work. ??? I’m stumped. I don’t understand the " The connection to the data source “ANTBM-IBMA” could not be established" when the computer registers the data base.

So: What java version LibreOffice could detect? Have a look at Tools → Options → LibreOffice → Advanced. Might be some wizards will use Java, but Calc together with Base shouldn’t use it.

Just says Java Runtime Environment JRE is installed but doesn’t give any further information about it.

Haw many tables are in the Calc sheet showing the content you expect?
Java-Options should look like this:
grafik

A spreadsheet connection works without any Java being installed on the computer (except for reports).

None are listed in my LO Tools, advanced. Now my LO has locked up and I can’t close out any LO windows I have open.

I was REALLY hoping that someone would have a solution to my problem.
I need to make some labels without doing one at a time which could be VERY TIME CONSUMING!

Christmas card making doesn’t need extra frustration! Have you considered reinstalling LibreOffice from a fresh download of the same version (same version to avoid other possible difficulties)?

I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll try that since I have not gotten any other solutions.
Thank you.

Also to consider: Renaming user profile. But you have to start new with registered datasources, as this will be stored in the profile.
.
Also note: Profile is kept during updates, so any problems from there will remain. A “new” install is not always a “clean” install.

I uninstalled my LibreOffice and restarted my computer.
Then I went to the LibreOffice website and downloaded and installed LibreOffice.
I still have the same issue.
Sorry if I am ignorant of some things when dealing with theses software issues.
I went to LibreOffice-options-LibreOffice-paths
How do I change the “username”?
I don’t see one for profile.
Do I need to change the username in each path?
I don’t want to mess things up where it will corrupt my data. I really appreciate the help, by the way.
I created a new folder and still have the same problem.
Why when I download LibreOffice it gives a warning that the download might harm my device, do I want to keep this? Is this just a legalese statement?

IMHO problems with the profile are much more frequent than a corrupt installation.

I’m only mildly surprised, when people don’t use a simple google research first. Here wiki-page wich is my first hit with LibreOffice userbprofile
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile
.

You don’t, as this is/will be replaced by your Windows-“username”. (But creating a new user-account in Windows may be an option to test, as the new user will get a new profile…)
.

Thats why I usually suggest only to rename the profile-folder. So it is still available and you can save parts of it (copy to the new one) or even return to your profile.
But this is not done inside of LibreOffice. What you do inside LO ist stored in your profile. If you wish to rename or delete a complete profile you do this in Windows-Explorer (the file-manager) or to test use the Wizard for safe-mode described in the wiki.
.
In your case I would use the manual way described in the wiki, as you wish to test something with a registered datasource. And I guess safe-mode will forget this on restart (as the “registration” is stored in the profile).
.
I usually enter %APPDATA% as folder in Explorer to find the LibreOffice-folder there, then go down to the user-folder.
! Close LibreOffice completely before you do this and quickstart should also be off !

I started LibreOffice in safe mode and had the same problem. Wiki said if the problem exists then the profile is not the problem.
I went to %APPDATA% in explorer and was scrolling through a million files and thought there has to be a better. So I hit sort ascending. and there was not a listing for LibreOffice. What next?
I am confused about all of this. I have been using LibreOffice to print labels using this process for a few years not. WHY right now is it not working?
I got a new computer a few months back, but I have made mailing labels since. Usually once a month at least.
I keep getting this message when I try to query a data base.
The connection to the data source “Sheet 11 b” could not be established. at C:/cygwin64/home/buildslave/source/libo-core/dbaccess/source/ui/misc/datasourceconnector.cxx:177
I don’t know what this means.

So, I started with a brand new spreadsheet.
I transferred the data from the previous spread sheet and was able to create a data sheet with the data to print on my labels.

I don’t understand all of it but maybe I’ve learned something through this.

I appreciate all the help and encouragement.
Thank you to all.
