Crossing out Comments in Writer: Way to do it manually?

When I write over the text a comment is linked to in Writer, the comment is X-ed out. However, as I don’t always want to write over the text, I’m looking for a way to “process” comments by choosing to cross out these comments manually.

Is this possible?

I can choose to “resolve” a comment, but this doesn’t change anything visually aside from adding a tiny “resolved” next to the comment author.

I also don’t want to delete the comment, just mark it clearly that I’ve processed it.

Is it possible to cross out the comment like this or is styling the comment text with a strikethrough my only option?

Thank you

Edit:
OS Linux Mint 21.1
LO 7.3.7.2

As @ajlittoz mentioned, I likely confused two things, Track Changes and Comments.

When tracking changes, and writing over a comment-attached text, the comment is then X-ed out (not strikethrough) with a thin blue cross.

Is there a way to choose this thin blue cross manually?

Please, edit your question to improve it. As it is written, there may be a confusion betwee Track Changes feature and Comments.

Formatting is rather limited in Comments: only direct formatting is possible. To cross out some text, select it anf Format>Character, Font Effects tab. Choose a Strikethrough mode.

PS
When asking here, always mention OS name, LO version and your preferred save format.

Thanks, I tried clarifying it in an edit.
I was indeed confusing those two. Is there a way to manually X-out a comment like it is via Track Comments?

I still don’t see because comment text is not tracked. Could you please attach a screenshot with View>Formatting Marks enabled?

All right, so “Enzymes” was in the original document, and was then commented on by another user. If I now replace that word with new text, the attached comment is X-ed out. I’d like to be able to do the X-ing out myself without writing over the text.

Thanks

I can’t reproduce in LO 7.4.3.2 under Fedora 37 with KDE Plasma desktop.

What puzzles me is the position of comment in text (the upward pointing triangle). I’ve tried various ways, it ends up here either at left of erased word or at right of added word, never in the middle. If I attach the comment to a word (selecting the word and inserting comment), the comment vanishes when I erase the word.

Also, I never met the X. I don’t think there is a difference on this feature between 7.3 and 7.4. It looks like it is a generic GUI hint. As such, you can’t activate it on demand. The only thing you can do is to strike-through paragraphs in your comment.

Ok, well thanks anyway

Could you attach your example file (or a 1-page sample) showing the X-out so that I can see if it happens here?

abc.odt (13.7 KB)

Here you go. Thanks!

I see the X-out but am unable to create new ones. I thought my decision not to enter user data could be involved, but it doesn’t change if I add a name. This reaches the limit of my knowledge. Other contributors are welcome.

All right, well I appreciate it anyway
