CSV import prompt does not appear when another CSV is already opened

Using LibreOffice Calc 4.2.5.2 and WIndows 8.1 64-bit US

If you have a CSV file opened and try to open another CSV file, the CSV import prompt window does not appear automatically. In order to see the prompt, you have to select the Calc instance that’s already running from the Windows taskbar. This is further complicated when you have several CSV files opened in different Calc instances, because they you have to click on all of them to figure out which one will have the import prompt for the new file.

Dialogs and prompts in Windows should appear without the user having to select the program from the taskbar first, so I consider this a bug.

I can’t reproduce the issue with Win10x64 LibreOffice 4.2.8.0.0.

I hate to sound simplistic, but I would suggest you ask yourself why you are opening multiple CSV files in Calc in the first place.

First simple answer: If, after answering the above question, you believe you need Calc, open each CSV in turn and save it as a separate worksheet in the file.

Second simple answer: If, after answering the above question, you believe you are forcing Calc to inefficiently perform database tasks, consider using LO Data to better meet your needs. BE SURE to use the Firebird database engine and not HSQLDB.

This is a common issue. Often I have many windows open (multiple Writer’s multiple Calc’s) and then when opening a CSV file, the “import” dialog appears, but only in one window and sometimes it can take some time to find the right one. Trying to import another CSV while one import dialog is open does not work.
