Cursor freezing in place sometimes

I have just downloaded the latest version of LibreOffice (26.2.2.2) and I am observing the following while modifying a .docx. When I move the cursor, especially by clicking, sometimes the cursor remains in place. Especially when I move away while the “flashing” cursor is flashed “on.” Sometimes the only way to get rid of this extra pipe symbol between the letters is to navigate back there and then navigate away while the cursor is flashing “off.” In the example below, only the middle cursor is the correct cursor. The other two are artifacts from previous navigations.

I have already tried toggling Direct Cursor, and I do not have change tracking on. I am not using hardware acceleration or anti-aliasing, but I am using Skia for rendering and the option to disable it is greyed out.

Most Windows computers work better when Force Skia software rendering is also selected. LibreOffice will need a restart after OK of setting

In safe mode it is not an issue. Perhaps it has something to do with the modifications I made for Word compatibility.
Btw I tried it on 26.2.1 and 25.8.6 and the problem is there in those versions. Let me try to narrow down which of the options it is, or maybe it is just purely something to do with safe mode vs normal mode?

Ok. In 25.8.6 it was possible to disable Skia, which for some reason was not possible on 26.2.2.2. When I did this, the problem went away. So I will work with these settings for now (sticking with 25.8.6).

If this is true for your 26.2. then you should try to reset your profile before installing…

Ahh… no idea why I never thought of trying this, I guess I didn’t understand how it was different from “Use Skia for all rendering.” Plus it wasn’t possible to change on 26.2.

This combination actually does work fine as well. I’ve done a lot of clicking and not been able to get a stuck cursor. Also the Styles window displays correctly now, which I just noticed it broke when I disabled Skia completely.

Sure it is. I have Intel UHD620 graphics and I always have Force Skia software rendering ticked otherwise I can get some funny effects. Same with my older computer.
