With my LibreOffice Writer 3.5.7.2 in Ubuntu 12.04 I have not found, how to cut several table rows at once and paste them into the same table. Is it possible? Do I need a higher version? Thanks!
Hi, I’m on 4.2.4.2 on WIN8. I also cannot do it in CALC but I did learn a nice trick from it.
You can have multiple selections (wih CTRL and mouse) and then colour the cells or bold them all etc. You cannot copy and paste. It sells me I can only do that with a single selection. Also, I cannot name the range for a similar reason (the range needs to be rectangular).
But the cool thing is that I can enter a value in one of the selected cells and when I press TAB it will move only within the multi selection.
As soon as you click elsewhere, it will unselect the multiple ranges.
You can also use the menu while having multiple selections.
Pretty cool but still not solving your cutting and pasting issue.
My way of doing this:
- mark rows you need to copy / cut / whatever in unused column. Use any character, I’m usually using
1
for easy counting, but some prefer*
due to visual style - add autofilter (Data → Filter → AutoFilter) for column with marks. To make sure autofilter covers all rows, last row must be marked when adding it, or alternatively add autofilter for whole range which contains data.
- filter only marked rows (choose “not empty” in filter droplist)
Now you free to copy or clear them. Though you can’t cut directly, you can copy & clear (Del) instead.
