Date in form different to that in table field

A table and form (taken from a calc file) work perfectly until I add a dropdown to one of the date fields. The table remains the same but the form shows the start default date. (my table has four different date fields).

@Hrbrgr ,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

A screenshot with different dates would help to understand, what is going wrong.

SourceData.ods (59.7 KB)

I can’t reproduce the problem. See database form. It has a date control in the grid, a stand-alone date control and an OLE object showing the sheet data.

Screenshot 1 - Correct display
Screenshot 2 - After just adding a dropdown

I have built a new database in order to clarify my continuing problem. I hope that this is enough for someone to please offer a solution.
OS Windows 10 home. Libre Office 7.4.5.1 File ODS Database.

My table has ten fields, the second one being Date Received. Both Table and Form work perfectly UNTIL I add a dropdown calendar to Date Received. This immediately changes to 01/01/1800 (the min date default) for every row. However, the dates in the table remain unchanged.

You can not edit a spreadsheet through forms. A spreadsheet is not a database. When you connect a Base document to a spreadsheet, Base mimics a read-only database by interpreting the used areas of each sheet as database tables. This is good enough for mail merge, label printing and for transfering filtered and sorted list data between spreadsheets. However, this will never be a database.

Thank you for your reply. I am not trying to edit the data, in fact I wish for the date to remain as in the table. It is the addition of the dropdown calendar that causes the date to automatically change to the (unwanted) minimum default value.

Do you see the same discrepancy in the files I have downloaded? Why don’t you upload an excerpt of your data demonstrating the issue? Even from a screen shot we can’t see what you see. We can’t investigate the actual data types on your sheet nor can we examine the form controls on your form. Talking about objects having thousands of combined properties is futile even if you may think that this must be a well known problem. It isn’t.

By the way: Do you see any screen shot?
You are right: A dropdown for a Calc date is a little bit silly. You can’t change data in a table connected to Calc. So you cant drop a dropdown “down”.

I wanted to point this out before he posts any screen shot.
