DAYS Function Being Replaced with "_xlfn." in Excel

I’m working on a document in LibreOffice, but it’s saved in XLS format so it can be shared with co-workers using Excel. I use the DAYS function extensively, but when my co-workers open the file in Excel the characters “_xlfn.” have been appended to DAYS (making it ‘_xlfn.DAYS’) and the formula breaks.

Is there a solution?

Excel does not know the DAYS() function, hence you get the raw _xlfn.DAYS() there and calculations using it don’t work.
The good news is that you don’t need the DAYS() function, simply subtracting two dates gives the same result, in both Calc and Excel.

Save your Excel file as .ODS (LO native format), work only in the .ODS format. Once finished save it in ODS and in .XLS for giving it away. That should work.

It does not help for the problem that Excel doesn’t know the DAYS() function.

Excel 2013 knows the DAYS function. 2010 does not even it is defined in the OASIS documentation.

Ok, then another correct answer would be “make your co-workers use Excel 2013, or even better make them use LibreOffice” :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@erAck you got it!!
