I have to change the page format every time before editing. Is it possible to save the settings somehow (for example on a4)?
You didn’t mention your OS, not LO version. By default, LO retrieves default page size from the OS, provided you’ve configured correctly both the “region” parameters and the printer, unless, of course, you’ve already forced parameters either with a new default template or in Tools>Options.

My OS - linux
Open a blank document.
Set the page size to A4.
Save the empty document as a Document template and check the “□ Set as default template”.
