Default text in PDF form is not overwritten

I have created a fillable form in Writer and exported it to a pdf. The form includes a default text ‘First Name’ in the FName field. When I test the PDF, the letters I type are added to the default text-instead of replacing the default text. What am I doing wrong?

You can set tab order by

1. in design mode, right click a field and select Control Properties
2. Scroll down to Tab order and click the button at the right …
3. Arrange your controls in the order you want.

When you tab into a field in the pdf it will highlight the default text, first key press will overwrite it.
