Different numbers of pages for the same text-file on my desktop and my laptop

Hello!

I use Libreoffice on my desktop and my laptop. If I open a file from my laptop using a USB-Stick, there is a mismatch concerning the number of pages. I have formatted the text-file on my laptop with 444 pages. On my desktop the same file has 462 pages. How can this be? I use the same versions of Libreoffice on both systems.

Thank you very much for your kind interest.

The difference may come from a discrepancy between styles on both systems. You may have changed the base configuration on one of your machines. Tell us how you format your documents. Are you using styles or do you direct format? I’d bet for a difference either in Text Body or Default Paragraph Style style.
When replying, don’t forget to mention OS names and LO versions (even if you think they are the same).

Are both machines set to use the same paper size?

E.g., your laptop and your desktop have different sets of fonts installed; the document uses fonts that maybe exists on one system, but not on the other; and that other system uses substitution fonts with different metrics, making text take different space.
