Direct formatting in calc changes cell entries

So using LibreOffice Calc and I have labels in the top cells of my columns. Some start with numbers.

For instance one label is 201A.

Whenever I type 2 into a cell below it, it changes it to 201A and shows direct formatting.

If my label is 808C and I type 8 in a cell below it, it changes it to 808C.

I want it to be $2 and $8. Why is it changing my cells to my labels when the first number is the same?

It is the Autocomplete feature. Uncheck the
Tools - AutoInput
option.
( tested in my LO 7.5.8 )

And I suggest you to use the Cel Styles instead of the direct (manual) formatting method.
