Disengaging Presentation Mode in Impress

I am using Impress on a Mac using LibreOffice 7.5.4.2. I set Presenter Mode on but now I can’t remove it. I go to Slide Show->Slide Show Settings and select Presentation Mode to be Full Screen. I still see the green window around my slide. How do I remove it?

screenshot ?

anyhow, see Shortcut Keys for LibreOffice Impress

I could take a picture of the standard presenter green box but that isn’t going to show anything. The shortcuts offer no solution.

ESC should take you out of presentation mode or out of a looping presentation

I do not have a looping presentation. I am caught in prepetual presentation mode and can’t get out. ESC does nothing.

 what about the other documented shortcut ?

The problem isn’t disengaging the presentation. It is disengaging presentation mode. See original post for how l follow the documentation and it didn’t work.

so it’s not the title of your topic ?

at this point, I would recommend to use the exact wording your have in the interface and documentation, and provide .odp file and screenshots clarifying your concern; like, what this green box or window can be, and what’s the point with full screen mode ??

If it helps : my Impress 7.6 or 24.8 doesn’t have any kind of such green issue,
neither has the interface a mention of engaging or disengaging

Maybe there is an error message or other dialogue that needs to be closed first, try CMD+Tab to see if there is something else that has the focus.

Let me redescribe the problem. Here is the larger view of what I trying to accomplish. I want to take a presentation I create in Impress, which has Presenter’s Notes, and run it in Zoom. I should be able to see the Presenter’s Notes and my audience should be able to see the presentation but not see the Notes. I should be able to move the slides forward and backwards. I then want to be able to disengage the presentation console and return to the standard Impress mode without Zoom. This is supported in PowerPoint and Keynote and pretty straightforward in both. How do I get Impress to do it?

What I did was go to Slide Show > Slide Show Settings, then under “Display” selected “Presenter console”>Windowed. I then ran my presentation. I could not see only the presentation in Zoom. This is not a Zoom issue. I can use Zoom with Keynote or Powerpoint and it works correctly.

When I then selected Presenter console>Full Window Impress it did not release me from Presenter Mode.

In either case, Presenter Mode didn’t seem to work right with Zoom. Has anyone managed to make this work and figured out how to disengage it at will?

It seems that tdf#92717 is resolved
The workaround described here might help, Bug 62179 - SLIDESHOW: enhancement: start Presenter Console also with only one monitor with Alt+F5 (as Rehearse Timings)

The very old bug report you reference appears to be when this feature was added to LibreOfffice. It doesn’t answer my question. The “workaround” is to emulate Windows, again, not solving the issue.

I assumed the problem is that you have only one monitor otherwise you would select the second monitor to show the presentation in Zoom and look at the console on the first monitor. At the end you stop sharing in the Zoom interface.
Bug 62179 is for all hardware not just Windows, you need to use Mac shortcuts so CMD+Tab rather than Alt+Tab, etc

I think this feature was originally created for those with 2+ monitors but the world has changed. These days, Zoom is common and most of us not in tech don’t have or want 2 monitors. What I do want is to present on Zoom and use the Presenter Console either to display notes or my talk as I am giving it. If I used a second monitor, I would no longer be looking at people. That’s certainly not what I want to achieve.

For those of us not in tech (formerly in tech here), presentations aren’t the kind where most of the information is on the slide. That really was never a good tech approach anyhow. In other fields it’s a non-starter. That console acts as either a teleprompter or just to keep you on track.

Is there some reason why this can’t function without workarounds? I had to learn Keynote to give my presentation. That doesn’t seem like a good, long-term solution.

First thing to do is to add yourself to the CC list for the bug report 62179

I haven’t had to Impress on Zoom. When giving a presentation with a single computer I use Remote on my phone to see my notes and control the presentation
