Divide cell (libreoffice 4.3.7.2) on Mac

Hey guys am new here.

I just want to know how to divide a cell into pieces in calc.

I want to take one column in a piece I am working on and divide it into 3 equal parts all the way down.

To help clarify the question I have attached an example document.

Also, you will notice that the document has been “split” just after the “F” column. I did this by accident and would like to undo it- how can I do this? Hitting the “undo” button simply undid every other thing I did BUT the split…

Command Z (which is usually undo on mac) didn’t help either…

Edit: your screenshot does not help to understand the problem.

Have you a backup of your file?
Have you set the backup options of Libre Office?
Have you set Time Machine backup in your Mac?
So you can restore your original file …

But I don’t thik it is possible split a cell …

Also I don’t have a backup of the file. That’s OK as I had only just started it, but I can’t think of a good reason why I wouldn’t be able to undo that split.

So if I split a document by accident, I have to load an older version of the file to correct it?

That would mean saving documents constantly just in case I end up splitting the document, not being able to undo the split and having to reload an older version!

You can merge 3 cells for write the heading and 3 single coloumn for write dd, mm , yyyy. Look at my attached file please in editated first answer.

So no way to undo the split thing huh? Dang. Will have to save often!

You cannot divide (split) individual cells in spreadsheets. See also my answer to a similar question here.
If you created an overlapping area with the ‘Merge’ tool you can revert this using a menu item named ‘Split’, but that’s just a misleading name. The individual cells never ceased to exist.

A relevant difference between this question and the one linked in above is that you also want to know how to “split all the way down”.
Functionally this can be done by inserting two columns to the right of the one in question. Everything else will be moved to the right then, and references will automatically adapt to changed column labels where needed. This can be reverted by ‘Delete’ selected columns.
(Insertion of columns will fail if the rightmost column(AMJ) has any content.)

The thread is just over months old. Do you think contrubutors here should write their answers every 4 months anew? My answer is valid now and was valid 30 years ago.
You may close this thread, of course. (What good for?)
I posted this answer because the one above is misleading (and probably not an answer at all). Only the last comment by charlie.it does actually hit the topic.
