Document formatting different on a new PC

I wrote a book with writer and exported it to pdf. On a different computer, the formatting of the .odt document no longer corresponds to the pdf produced. Why?

Welcome. The most likely explanation is that you used a font that is not available on the pc where you are now viewing the file. Writer will then substitute a similar font, but the result may have a different look and feel.

Further to floris_v comment, if you look at the pdf in Adobe Reader then click File - Properties you will see in the Fonts tab a list of all the fonts embedded in the pdf. Install the missing ones to see the same layout in your odt.

Note. It is best to close LibreOffice before installing fonts.
