How do I turn ON "document recovery so LibreOffice re-opens documents I had open before a shut-down or crash? Was this feature turned off in latest version? Disappeared after my recent upgrade to Ubuntu 24.02. Is there a way to turn it on? I’ve done a ton of searching and realize a lot of people didn’t like it, but I did. Thank you very much.
Version: 24.2.6.2 (X86_64) Ubuntu package version: 4:24.2.6-0ubuntu0.24.04.1
Check the chapter core in release notes. It reads as the feature is turned on by default… Maybe check the path
Click Tools > Options > Load/Save > General and tick Save AutoRecovery information every: x minutes. Make sure there is a value for x, default is 10 minutes
Thank you much - a lot in there about “AutoRecovery.” But what I’m looking for is the “Recovery” window/dialog box that used to come up on start-up after a shut-down or crash. It listed listed all the previously open windows/files and would automatically re-open them on re-start. Updated version just opens to a blank template.
I mostly miss the ability to just re-start the PC knowing my mess of open LibreOffice windows would automatically re-open on the next start-up.
Appreciate the reply.
If LibreOffice is set to save the information then the AutoRecovery tool should start on starting LibreOffice afresh after a crash.
Maybe rename your User profile and let LibreOffice create a new one. Libreoffice should not be crashing so it might resolve some of those crash issues too
I guess this was not the intended use, but auto-recovery should still work.
.
Maybe try to make some little change, then reboot without saving. Check, if changes were saved or in a backup file.

As Windows warns me of open Applications, this usually don’t happen often to me…
There was tdf#160769, but it should be fixed in 24.2.6.
