Does anyone know how to resolve the problem of the copy and cut function not working in Writer?

After highlighting the text and right clicking, the highlighting disappears and the text is not cut.

Two questions :

  1. Is the highlighted text still copied and cut if, instead of right-clicking on the text, you left-click on the cut icon (scissors) in the tool bar?
