Does libreoffice have a "signature line" feature for obtaining signatures on docs?

i can’t confirm, but evidently MS’ office has a “signature line” feature for obtaining electronic signatures on contracts, etc. does libreoffice? i can’t find any mention of it but i’d be a little suprised if it doesn’t already exist in libreoffice. alternatively, is there a plugin for this? If not i request this feature. thanks

Hmm… are you talking about a signature line for physical signatures or for digital signatures?

Here’s a page about adding digital signatures to ODF documents:

The basic tools are in place to allow people to digitally sign documents, however the current LO implementation does not appear to include the features of MS-Office’s “signature line” as described by MS’s help document:

A signature line looks like a typical signature placeholder that might appear in a print document, but it works differently.

When a signature line is inserted into an Office document, the document author can specify information about the intended signer, as well as instructions for the signer. When an electronic copy of the document is sent to the intended signer, this person sees the signature line and a notification that his or her signature is requested. The signer can click the signature line to digitally sign the document. The signer can then either type a signature, select a digital image of his or her signature, or write a signature by using the inking feature of the Tablet PC.

When the signer adds a visible representation of his or her signature to the document, a digital signature is added simultaneously to authenticate the identity of the signer. After a document is digitally signed, it will become read-only to prevent modifications to its content.

@qubit1 electronic/digital signature line like your second link. but i won’t use MS products to do it. I’d rather carve the doc out of papyrus! I found a similar MS link when searching for this functionality in regards to libreoffice. thanks though.

Oh, I understand a reticence to use Microsoft products. I added the links to help provide info regarding MS’s implementation, as that’s the example you gave.
