downgrade LO 4 to a previous version

I have created a slideshow with LO Impress 4.2.8.2 Build ID: 420m0(Build:2). This version has been updated a few weeks ago. My OS is a Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS.

Currently, some operations and settings that I apply to the slideshow do not persist after I save and close the file — For the interested I have filed a bug report at https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107985

I wish to have in place a stable version of LO Impress so that I don’t have to redo any work every time I open the file. I would like to see whether an earlier version of LO preserves these features that I currently lose.

Which steps should I follow to downgrade LO to a previous version?
Thanks in advance for considering this.

(Don’t understand “This version has been updated a few weeks ago.”)

You didn’t tell your current version (or are you actually using 4.2.8.2 which is - 2014-12-08 - rather old regarding LibO speed of development. At least youu filed your bug report naming this old version.). If it is a V5.0 e.g. I would suggest you try firts V5.3.3. If you have a recent Wine working you can give the PortableApps (Win32) package a try.

Concerning the downgrade:
1 - Download the wanted version (V4.4.7 e.g.) as needed for your OS from this site:
Index of /libreoffice/old .
2 - Uninstall your present version completely.
3 - Install the downloaded version.

“This version has been updated a few weeks ago” refers to the fact the Ubuntu manages the versions of Libreoffice software running on the computer system. So that version was the latest available at that time (on Ubuntu). In my perspective I would have been preferable to fall back on the previous version rather that leap into the latest one (which may interfere with the package management of Ubuntu)
