Edit Window of LibreOffice Writer Turned Grey

While working on a document the entire editing window suddenly tinted itself grey. I can still see the text normally, but the instead of being white the document itself, and the margins outside of the document are now grey.

I saved the document not to lose my work, and reopened it and it is still grey. For a variety of reasons I cannot use the document in its final form in this state, though LibreOffice Writer still behaves normally (so far) except that it isn’t the right color and makes certain highlighted sections difficult to read.

Check Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Application Colors - Document background and set it to White.

I found a solution to this (it is still a mystery as to why it happened).

I opened a second dummy document and decided to experiment with Tools > Options > Application Colors.

I set the Application Background color to grey to see if I could replicate the effect. It was not quite the same. But when I changed it back to the default my original document - which was still open on the screen - changed back to its default color also.

I had previously checked my original document, and all of the application color options were still in their default setting mode - only the document wasn’t colored as according to its settings.
