error executable path

I had LibreOffice in Ubuntu. After an update, LibreOffice could not be started any more. Reinstalling does not help.
Someone saw an error in:
Executable path /usr/bin/libreoffice/program/sov\ffice.bin
it should be
Executable path /usr/bin/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin

Can i change it myself? If yes, how do I do that?
Thanks !

  • Which Ubuntu version?
  • Which Desktop Manager (Gnome, Xfce, KDE, Mate, Cinnamon,…) ?
  • Which LibreOffice Version from which PPA?

And: yes - you can change on your own, but we’d need to know what you did where to know which file is being used. First thing to do:

Open a terminal and just execute libreoffice - does this throw the error message?

Assuming that the asker probably uses some desktop link or favourite program entry to start LibreOffice I’d suspect the erroneous command to be in the associated desktop file. Which, unless the /usr/bin/soffice or /usr/bin/libreoffice scripts from the package are broken, would explain why reinstalling LibreOffice did not resolve anything because the desktop files reside in the user’s desktop environment.
