Exist a feature for importing and linking .odt files from another .odt file?

I’m working in a Poetry collection of mine and usually the longer poems I store them in different files. Now that I’m collecting them in a single file, instead of copy them individually (or using the import text from file) would be nice to be able to import a file in a designed location and if any change is made to the collection file it would also be reflected in the original single poem file, and biceversa.
If this feature didn’t exist, I could work on it, any pointer to relevant part of the codebase would be appreciate

EDIT: this could be replicated using a Master Document. (I think?)

What you describe is the master document feature. A master document contains “pointers” to sub-documents which are referenced not copied. Total size is then the size of your collection plus a small amount for the master document (its original text + “pointers” to sub-documents).

Don’t be abused by the apparent simplicity of the functionality. There are subtleties in it. A key to success is consistent use of styles (and all of them: paragraph, character, page and frame if you have illustrations). The simplest way to achieve consistency is to base all subdocuments (and the master too) on the same template.

A master document has additional properties/features compared to ordinary documents. Therefore it has a specific extension .odm.
