External links updated only in current sheet, in others they need to be edited

I have excel files that I’d like to use with LibreOffice only.
Each file has several sheets and in almost all sheets there’s a link to the same sheet in a previous file. When using excel to open a file, I’m asked “Security warning - Automatic update of links has been disabled” and clicking on “Enable Content” button I get them updated.
When using LibreOffice Calc to open the same file, I get an almost identical warning and button, yet, after clicking it, if I compare the linked values, they’re not updated. (Normally only the current sheet is updated, not sure it happens all the times). Afterwards, if I edit the cell content, similar to:
=‘file:///C:/Users/gianc/filename.xlsx’#$sheet_name.$D$6
and re-type some characters leaving the same contents, then the link is updated.

Any hint?
Thanks a lot!
Giancarlo.

Thanks for reminding me about specifying the version.Indeed I observed this behaviour both in latest updated version 24.6.8.2 (x86_64) and in previous one that was much older (7.x if I remember correctly). So I assumed it was a general problem.

Anyway I can add now some more observations with regard to this issue.

  1. The files that were already edited with excel in excel format (xlsx extension) were correctly updating the links even opening them with LibreOffice Calc. Instead the files that I created from previous ones as I always did before, i.e. copying them in Windows, renaming them (keeping excel format) changing the external links in new files using find/replace and opening them only with LibreOffice Calc, had the described issue.

  2. After saving the new created files in LibreOffice format (ods extension) the issue seems solved so far.

  3. Minor issue. If I have two open files, first file having link to the second one, and I change some values in the second file that affect the value shown by the link, this isn’t updated. I have to edit the cell that contains the link in 1st file (or reopen 1st file) to have it updated.

Thanks for your support!
Best regards,
Giancarlo.
