File browser locks and covers main (parent) window

Hi,
When opening/saving a file in LibreOffice, the file browser that pops up is ‘affixed’ to and blocks the underlying (parent) window; i.e., the window in which I am editing. This is super(!) annoying as it blocks me from seeing what’s in my active window. I find myself way too often cancelling my file browser in order to see something on my working window, only to have to put it back up to save the file.
I’ve looked through various LibreOffice options (no luck). I have also tried using LibreOffice’s native file browser (same result).

(This exact (and equally annoying) thing occurs when I try to save Web browser (FF) content to a file, so perhaps this is not a LibreOffice thing after all. Could it be Gnome?)

Does anyone know how to unlock the file browser from its parent window?
(I’m running Ubuntu 22.04 (Gnome) and LibreOffice 7.3.7.2)
