Files will not open in Mac OS

Libreoffice V24.8.3.2 (AARH64) Community
Apple M1 Pro Sequoia 15.1.1
Libreoffice will open but will not open existing files of any type. Blank files will not open. Libreoffice merely locks up with that crazy colored ball spinning. These files will open in other applications, like Google Docs, Microsoft 365, etc.

Can anyone help?

Sounds like you haven’t set the permission on the folder for LibreOffice to open the files in question.

Check in the security settings of macOS under application authorisations. In theory macOS should ask you each time LO tries to load a file from a previously unused folder, but sometimes this doesn’t happen, hence the need to go into the system security settings. If you’re feeling generous, you can allow LO to access the whole disk, but this shouldn’t strictly be necessary.

Thank you for responding to my problem. I have downloaded the latest update of the Mac OS and the problem disappeared. I seem to have a few problems with the OS getting along with open source software.

Thanks Again
