Fillable Forms and PDF

Hi everyone, so I am having an issue with the conversion from Writer to a Fillable PDF form. I designed my form in Writer and exported it as a PDF. I made sure all of the appropriate boxes were ticked like "create PDF form. However when I open the PDF and click in a field I get a strange thing in any of the fields that I click. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and how to get rid of it? The image is attached. It kind of looks like a Py with two dots over the y.

Thanks,
Ian

To answer the initial question, OS name, LO version and save format (of original “Writer” file) are needed.

Though a screen shot has very low debugging value, it looks to me like a problem/conflict related with the expected character encoding. “þÿ” is the sequence LATIN SMALL LETTER THORN, LATIN SMALL LETTER Y WITH DIAERESIS in ISO-8859-x. But when you consider the hexadecimal encoding, you get 0xFE 0xFF. In Unicode, this is the BYTE ORDER MARK U+FEFF.

Consequently, I suspect that your OS or the PDF viewer expects ISO-8859-x and is upset when fed with a perfectly legal Unicode “string”.

Waiting for more information.

@SilentWalker: saying “me too” without additional minimum technical details is not the best way to solicit a solution. You can contribute by giving info on your configuration and workflow.

That’s fine. I’ll delete it, as I am new to the forum and the “reply” button to comment is not intuitive on this forum. I now see it’s an icon.

Yet, I don’t appreciate the disrespectful nature in which you responded. Saying the term “rant” is unprofessional and highly disrespectful. Manners are appreciated.

Don’t forget to delete this comment too. Provide details on your configuration and workflow. This will help diagnose the issue.
