Font color is white-on-white in LibreOffice Calc when editing cell

Hi all,

I have a problem with LibreOffice Calc. Whenever I double click (or press F2) on a cell with black/automatic font color and white background, the content is shown white-on-white and therefore impossible to edit. If the font color is different from black, the color is also inverted - except for when it is originally white.

This only happens when I select the cell, and not if I select the text in the formula-line instead.

I’m unsure if the problem is related to LibreOffice or my operating system. I use Kubuntu 14.04 and LibreOffice 4.2.8.2 (from the std repositories).

Can anybody hint as to what could cause this? I have tried to look through the color settings without much luck.

I “solved” the issue by purging LibreOffice from the package manager:

sudo apt-get purge libreoffice-*

… and downloading and installing the newest version (5.4.0) from Download LibreOffice | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft
