Fonts Deleted in W10 Still Show in LibreOffice 7.1.5.2 (x64)

When I installed 7.1.5.2 in Windows 10 Pro 21H1 I deleted all the noto font files that come with each LibreOffice installation. I’ve done this successfully with all prior LibreOffice updates. In the past, after deleting the font files in W10, they no longer showed in LibreOffice Writer. This time (today) after deleting the files in W10 and rebooting my PC, the noto font files still showed in LO Writer. I went back to W10 and checked that they had indeed been deleted, which they were. All the files I had deleted no longer appear in the W10 font manager. What’s going on? How can I delete these fonts from LO?

Interestingly, if you try to format any words in LO Writer with the deleted fonts the text does not show in the professedly non-Latin typefaces but in an unidentified basic Latin serif font, with the font selection showing the name of the deleted Noto typeface. Opening and closing LO does not appear to shake off the deleted fonts. Bug? Feature?

Are you really seeing the files? Or you actually see something else - e.g., font name (possibly in italics) in some files (maybe old; or maybe even new files if you made some configuration changes making the fonts default at Options|Writer|Basic Fonts or in default template)?

I’m seeing file names on the LO drop-down font list. Some are regular, some are in italics, some are bolded. And, no, these fonts are not part of any configuration changes or defaults, which are carried forward from prior installations. I’ve checked them all.

Interestingly, not all of the deleted fonts are showing on the LO Writer drop-down list. Of the (I believe) fourteen or fifteen NOTO fonts, only eight are now showing on the LO list. But, again, those files are NOT showing on either the W10 font list or the W7 legacy Control Panel font list. If I could delete them again I would, but Windows is not giving me that option.

Interesting, why one would press “Suggest a solution” button to just clarify their question?

I was looking for some other way to enter my remarks and hadn’t yet recognized the comment bubble icon.

And after running Dell SupportAssist, usually done every month or so, all the deleted files have disappeared from LO. I have no idea. Thanks for reading these posts.

You usually need to restart programs for fonts to disappear.
Note that it’s pointless and useless to remove fonts that are bundled with LibreOffice, because you’d need to do it again each time you install an update to the suite. So, I wouldn’t bother.
