I write legal briefs using LibreOffice Writer and I used to be able to add citations in footnotes. I would select the case and add it to my alphabetical index. The program would then search the entire document, including footnotes, and cite similar text within. I am in the process of writing a new brief and it appears that the ability to cite within footnotes is no longer an option. Is this true? If so, why would you eliminate such a useful tool? Also, if it is true is there a work around? The only way I have found to make it work so far is to cite within the document and then paste the citation into a footnote. That is the only way to get the program to cite within the footnotes. Please tell me that you folks have not eliminate this feature. I have tried very hard to stay away from MS Word, which has a very good Table of Authorities feature built-in. I had come up with a way to properly format brief using LibreOffice Writer, but if t is true that this option has been eliminated, then you have just made it even more difficult to continue with the product. I had actually gotten so good at writing briefs in LibreOffice that I was thinking about holding a class. None of that will happen if these tools have been eliminated. Please respond. Thank you.
