When I insert one of the form control tools onto my Impress presentation, they do nothing when clicked, even after I assign a working macro. If I try clicking a push button with a macro assigned, nothing. If I try typing in a text box, nothing. This is really infuriating.
I am using LibreOffice 7.5 on 64-bit Windows 10. Can someone please tell me what the issue might be?

I don’t think that form controls are supposed to do anything while a presentation is in presentation mode. While in presentation mode, you can trigger macro code by clicking on drawing objects with assigned click events.
