Getting "General Input/Output Error message when trying to save spreadsheet

Running Libre version 6.2.3.2, when trying to save one specific spreadsheet file I get this message: Error saving the document abc: General Error. General Input/output error…I get the same message when trying to “Save As” and rename the file.

Do not get this message when trying to close any other file

HELP!!

This looks like a bug. First try with a newer version - e.g. 6.2.8 or 6.3.3; if it doesn’t help, file a bug report and attach the file if possible.

thanks…just created a whole new file and copied everything over, then went and downloaded the newer version of LibreOffice and I can now save the file!!

Hi,
I’ve had this issue for a while but it appears at random, usually after I’ve been working for a while. As safe practice I do a “flie save as” with an incremental index in the file name for versioning.

This issue existed in LibreOffice 6 and now in 7. I’m on LO version 7.5.5.2, on Ubuntu 20.04.6 Mate 1.26.0, and Linux kernel 5.15.0-78; this issue is lingering and aggravating.

This doesn’t happen with any other program and I use a lot of programs. Is this reported in the bug list and prioritized or assigned ? There are reports of this problem going back to 2017, 6 years ago.

Thanks

I have this problem on 7.5.7.1 (MacOSX)

This error also appears if LibreOffice cannot write to a file or folder.
Have you enabled full disk access for LibreOffice?

Hi ErnestAI,

Thanks for your reply. I’m not sure I understand your question. I usually work directly on my pCloud space. With this problem I’ve started to work on my local SSD in my desktop, but this is annoying as it requires syncing manually with the cloud; I avoid automatic syncing as accidentally deleted or modified files on local SSD are then modified on cloud as well and that defeats having a cloud backup.

Sorry, I am not able to help with saving remotely. A starting point would be Help, Using Remote Files
