Should I group or name columns so that when sorted the relation of A1 → D1 is always maintained?
How?
I believe that I sorted on col B and lost the relationship of A1 and C1
Original A1 = jim@bookman-jim.biz, C1 = 6/23/2023
NOW A1 = jim@bookman-jim.biz. C1 = 7/19/23 (This was in another cell).

Don’t know what you were doing, but assuming that all three columns A,B,C contain values in the range, a sort on column B should had either sorted A and C along if the cursor was just positioned somewhere in column B and you clicked the Sort icon, or should had asked you if invoked via menu Sort. You may have selected a different range for sort.
Naming columns will not help anything (or whatever you might refer to with grouping).

If you manually selected a column and sorted, you’ve mixed everything up.
You have to select all the columns and order the desired one.
