New here. I’m trying to develop an automated way, using Basic macros, for enhancing LibreOffice Writer documents, in such way that dyslexic kids can more easily read text docs.
Core process works by Vlookup’ing a lexicon table that contains syllabic and orthosyllabic version of all words (currently french).
Question now is about rendering of syllables in LibreOffice Writer, when decomposition is achieved:

Seeing your question sparked me into a new search-session (before maybe replying with questions about if you had tested the OpenDyslexic font and speculations about using some grammar-checking features). But then I found this:
In LibreOffice we added a color separator syllables and arches on each syllable.
This is an excerpt from the news page of a GNU/Linux distribution called PicarOS Diego 2015; PicarOS is a (Spanish) multipurpose distribution with focus on education:
Seems they have done exactly what you asked about.
(I’m downloading it at this moment just to take a look; possibly their packages/extensions can be used in other distributions as well; we’ll see…)
[Edit]: Booted up PicarOS in a virtual machine and ran Writer:
The feature in question is an extension called “LireCouleur” which can be downloaded here:

I downloaded the LibreOffice extension and I’m trying it out fttb.
Actually it seems that Marie-Pierre Brungard, the author, uses graphical objects to draw the arches.
But it works well!
