Has automatic line numbering been removed from LO lately?

I have a document I’m editing in which I had enabled automatic line numbering. Now the numbers are still working, but I want to disable them. I don’t remember how I enabled them, but chatGPT says to go to “Format>Line Numbering”. That menu entry does not exist.

You solved your problem yourself, but 2 additional remarks: As far as I know chatGPT knows nothing of the last 2 years, because it is trained with older data. So it will not know of recent changes - like dark mode etc.
.
Also most modern AI-models tend to invent solutions based on heuristcs. So they can not replace a manual. Unless you verify “answers” via manual or help-file, i’d say answers a mostly without worth.

I should have done more manual searching before posting. It’s under “Tools”, not “Format”.

Like you said in your answer… This can be found under:

  • Tools > Line Numbering

In the future, if you needed to find something, you can always use the:

A helpful trick using the site: trick in your favorite search engine.

For example, if you type in:

  • Line Numbers site:https://help.libreoffice.org/
    • This will search the Help / HTML version of the LO User Guides.
  • Line Numbers site:https://ask.libreoffice.org/
    • This will search the Ask LibreOffice forum.
    • (Most likely your question was already asked/answered over the years!)

That can help narrow you down to a very specific website for great information/answers, instead of trying to search the entire internet.
