I have created page numbers in a new write doc. down loaded the book. Now I see that I have two page eights. How do I fix this please?

It sounds as if there is a manual page break at the end of the first page 8 and page numbering has been reset to start at 8. If you don’t want the numbering reset to 1 and want to continue with the first sequence of numbering then:

  1. Make a note of what page style you have on the second page 8.
  2. Click at the end of the text in the first page 8 and press delete.
  3. If the text from the second page 8 moves to the first page 8 you need to insert a break. If the page style for the new page 9 is not what you want, then click Insert > More breaks > Manual break
  4. In the dialogue that opens select Page Break, select the page style that you noted earlier, leave the Change page number unticked and OK

If you want to reset the page number from the second page 8 to page 1 then tick Change page number and ensure that 1 is entered into the spin box.

Thankyou very much. I will try that

Good morning!! Can you tell me how I find out what page style I have on the second page 8.
I did use the instructions given by LO called page numbers Arabic/Roman. Would the answer be Default page style?
Sorry not real good at computer talk!!

If the status bar at the bottom is showing, then it will say what page style is being used in the page where your cursor is, it just takes a glance.

Otherwise, you can

  • Right click on the page and select Page style - General. Or
  • Click on the page, in the Sidebar select Styles then, from the icons at the top of the styles page, select the icon with tooltip Page. The page style in use at the page you clicked will be highlighted.

Quite likely, it is the default.

Thank you so much. You are so helpful.
