I’m drawing rectangles to use in an electrical schematic drawing…I need to start with blanks and add colours and hatching later…I’d like to change the defaults.
Thanks

Without changing defaults, there are two ways:
-
before drawing any shape, select in the Line & Filling toolbar the properties of the future shapes (line color and width, area fill type and color)
If this toolbar is not displayed in your configuration, make it visible with
View
>Toolbars
>Line & Filling
. -
display the styles panel with
F11
and select Object without fillYou can restyle an existing shape: select it and double-click on the style name.
Eventually, you can create your own style with the desired properties but it is saved in the file, so that it will not exist in a new file.
EDIT: Your custom styles can be saved in a Draw template. After that, you can File
>New
>Templates
to select the template with the appropriate styles.
If your preferred template is tagged “default template” (this can be done anytime if you forgot it in File
>Templates
>Manage Templates
with a right-click on the template and Set as default template
), File
>New
will automatically create a document based on this template without the need to manually select it.

Many thanks…you have answered by query perfectly…but one more q if I may; Is there a ‘library’ available where I might be able to access electrical symbols for use in Draw?
