Hiding subdocument title page in master document

Hi,

I’m doing an end of project report and I have to add in appendix all the other document created in this project. So, I create a master document that would hold my title page, table of content and appendix title, then insert all the sub document needed. I then have two problem:

1. The sub document also have title page and table of content but I don’t want them to show in the assembled master document. The only work around I found was to separate each document in master/sub so that I can have a file with only the content without the other unwanted part, but I’d way prefer to keep this documents as standalone whole part.

2. After many research, I’m still struggling with the heading. All the sub documents have their heading starting at heading 1, but in the master document I want a table of content that show the appendix heading as #1 then the document as second level and following but I don’t want to edit the original document to change all heading1 to heading2 as the standalone document wont make any sens.

If you don’t want sub-document titles in the master, simply use sub-doc file-names that are the sub-doc’s title, and insert each file-name as a field its sub-doc header.

When you combine the sub-docs into a master, you’ll find the master has no way to display sub-doc file-names.

There is no method in LO of suppressing content via the master / sub-document facility which is designed for inclusion of content in entirety. If you only want to include part of a document in another document, this is one area where sections can be of assistance.

Define a section (Insert > Section… > New button) in the source / anchor document that includes only those pages you wish to include in the linking / citing document. Then, in the linking / citing document, link to the required section (Insert > Section… > check Link option, browse to File name, select Section) of the source / anchor document.
