Hiow do I live-link a Calc spreadsheet into Writer and keep the formatting?

I can copy and paste a spreadsheet from Calc to Writer and keep the formatting. Or I can use a DDE link, and keep it sync’d with the original spreadsheet file, but the formatting does not carry over to the table in Writer.

Is there a way to have my cake and eat it too, have a table in writer automatically sync’d with a Calc spreadsheet, and with formatting information (column widths, background colors, etc.) sync’d automatically as well?

Without some elaborate and extensive macro coding it seems improbable. And that is even without considering items such items ( as etc. implies) like inserted or deleted columns or rows and resizing and probably dozens of other possibilities. It appears you are trying to make your table mimic an OLE object or want certain aspects visible/present for a reason. What is the reason/purpose? Maybe there is another solution.
