When using LibreOffice Writer, I don’t have the ability to change the opacity of the watermark I want to use. I need to be able to change the strength of the image as lightly as I can get it. Unfortunately I’ve been unable to find a way to do this. The option is available in Office; but I really don’t want to have to install that again. I’m trying to shy away from M$ products and ease myself into LINUX completely over time.
Do you want to set the watermark opacity before inserting it? Could you add the version of LibreOffice you are using?
A watermark is just yet another drawing shape: you can right click on it, select the Area menu item, choose the Transparency tab, and set Transparency to the percent you wish.
Select Image
Click View dropdown.
Click toolbars.
Check drawing.
Then bottom left corner click on Default and change to Watermark then the opacity levels are there for you to choose. It will let you change the watermark even after you set it to background once you’ve gone through this process.
