How can I change the sorting to "Phonebook"?

Dear people,

In Calc, when sorting table rows, I can select the language “German (Germany)” in the “Sorting” dialog under “Options”, so that the two entries “Alphanumeric” and “Phonebook” can then be selected in the options menu. If I select “Phonebook”, my name lists are finally sorted in such a way that, for example, “ä” is treated like “ae”.

Is there any way to save this setting as a permanent default for LibreOffice?

Select the entire list.
menu:Data>Define…
Give a name to the database range.
Under “More Options” specify if the range includes column labels or not.
Apply your sort order.

Next time, call menu:Data>Refresh

And as always, when people confuse a calculator with a database, there would be a database solution.
collate_UNICODE_CI_AI_Firebird.odb (12.7 KB)
Open the database document and the form therein. Both sides refer to the same data table. The left side shows the data table sorted in alphabetic sort order, the right side shows the same table ordered case-insensitively and ignoring umlauts and accents.

Thank you for your reply, @Villeroy, but I wonder how this relates to my question for LO Calc (not LO Base).

The database range applies to Calc. A database would be the superior solution.

I think that is not possible. The sorting rule is an attribute of the individual database range.
