How can I control the double click behaviour in libreoffice writer ?
If I click on the string foo_bar in a libreoffice writer document it only selects the “foo” portion of the string. I would like ti to select the entire “foo_bar”. I have looked under the options menu and could not find anything to control the double click behaviout
Try three-click.
This selects the whole phrase/sentence.
Unlike internet browsers or text editors, Writer sees the spacing underscore (_ unicode U+005F) as a word separator (like a space).
If do you double-click-and-hold in foo and drag over bar both strings became selected, no matter if in between is a space or a spacing underscore.

As a (bit dirty) workaround, you can replace all spacing underscores with the modifier letter low macron (ˍ unicode U+02CD).
Really dirty because it changes the semantics. And IMHO this is worse than the insufficiencies in selection.
