If you’d like to convert the files individually, you can just
- Open the files using LibreOffice Writer
- Navigate to File → Save As
- Select the desired export format (ODF Text Document (.odt)) from the drop-down menu
- And click Save!
If you have a number of .doc files you’d like to batch-convert, you might consider a tool like unoconv or run LibreOffice in “headless” mode on the command line. Here’s a question on this site with more information:
